8 Months and 13 Days

Today marks the official start of the Fall semester. It also marks the beginning of the end, yet at the same time it’s the start to  a new journey. As of today I have but 8 months and 13 days left before graduation and the start of an awesome journey as a librarian.

I’m so ready and excited about the upcoming months and I can’t wait to experience yet another senior year. Today I’ll be working on a reading list for my independent study, which I’ve had to rethink completely. As it turns out the original idea was to close to what I would be doing in another class. We have decided to delve into the world of culturally diverse libraries. Any suggestions on articles or books I should look into?

Tomorrow I have Archival Management and as of now that’s the class I’m really looking forward to. I’ve been lucky enough to meet the professor already, they worked at my internship and I know that it’s going to be an awesome class.

Wednesday I’ll be doing my first Elluminate session for my online course, Digital Libraries. I first learned of digital libraries as a stand alone entity last fall while researching things for my wiki in Collection Management. Every since then I have been intrigued by the meaning of what this means to the future of libraries. Are we moving towards an society that doesn’t have brick and mortar libraries? Are we truly in danger of becoming a printless world? Is this a true environmentally friendly alternative? Mmm that’s for another post on another day.

Speaking of another post I’ve been very neglectful of my book reviews, I have been reading just not reviewing. I’ll remedy that later today. I even have a teaser photo for you.
